A family run restaurant for vegans in Seminyak!
It's easy to find a vegetarian restaurant on the island, but not so easy to find a vegan restaurant. It was nice to find one in Seminyak, an upscale and expensive neighborhood. This family-run restaurant is located on the grounds of Villa Dewata Bali. To find in principle is simple, behind the cafe Tamade turn into the alley, and go to the signs of the villa, go into the courtyard and on the left side will be security, tell Teisty Vegan, and they will show. The restaurant doesn't have a signboard, it's best to ask, the locals know.
Belongs to a Balinese vegan family, very nice, calm and attentive owner Nyoman. The place is just magical, peaceful and soulful, just three tables surrounded by a small beautiful garden with different fruit trees and flowers (I saw huge jackfruits growing), with a pleasant murmuring fountain, where fish and a big turtle swim, the owner said it is fed with rice, they fattened it up)). Shoes should be removed before entering, show respect for the Balinese house and the owner, it is clean. There are quite a few mosquitoes flying around, ask your host for mosquito repellent if you need it. There is wifi.
They cook themselves in accordance with all vegan norms, dishes do not contain meat, eggs, and milk, only coconut milk. They use tofu, tempeh, and other soy products. Menu with photos, I advise you to order local food, all the same their cuisine Balinese know, love and cook better. Breakfasts from 8-11, tofu “omelet” or homemade vegan pancakes with ice cream. You can order delivery, within Kuta and Seminyak the cost is 15k, other areas by arrangement, no minimum order amount. Prices are full, taxis included.
What to try?
1. Nasi kare - rice with vegetables, tempeh, and tofu stewed in coconut milk
2. Sate - 2 skewers of soy kebab with tomato sauce.
3. Mie kuah - vegetable noodle soup
4. Gado gado - traditional Indonesian vegetable salad; steamed vegetables, tempeh, tofu, rice crackers, peanut sauce
5. Vegan ice cream - they make their own vegan ice cream, vanilla coconut and chocolate, 3 scoops per serving, served with seasonal fruit.
