A simple budget warung in the center of Ubud.
Pros:
- Family run warung with local food, cooked by the hostess herself, uses coconut oil and organic rice, and no MSG
- quite tasty and reasonably priced food here
- full prices including tax
- parking lot in front of the warung
- is located in the less busy center of Ubud, nice to walk around after a delicious dinner
- original serving of dishes on a banana leaf:)
- you can learn local cuisine, master class is held by the hostess - every morning from 10 to 12, you can choose 3 dishes from the menu, price 250k including lunch, max 3 people (not enough space), the day should be agreed in advance.
Cons:
- not very clean, warung clearly needs cosmetic repairs
- the staff is nice, but not very good in English.
What to try?
1. Rice noodles - fried rice noodles with a choice of chicken, fish or vegetables (vegetarian). Try the noodles here, they cook them well here.
2. Curry - Indonesian yellow curry with chicken and rice
3. Satay - kebabs with peanut sauce and rice, a famous traditional dish
4. You can try local sweets with rice and pumpkin, I am listed as pies but actually, it is a sweet rice dessert wrapped in a banana leaf. Delicious raw food chocolate balls, 3 pieces in a serving.
