Of the 23 people staying there overnight, 21 were evacuated. Two, a foreigner and an Indonesian citizen, were swept away by the current and had not been found by Monday morning.
It happened on Sunday, 1 November, at around 11 pm in the village of Pelaga. Heavy rain had been falling there since three in the afternoon.
Six of the guests were foreigners, and the identity of the missing foreigner is still being established. Rescuers worked through the night until 2:45, then stopped because it had become too dangerous in the dark. The search was due to resume at nine on Monday morning, and the rain there had not let up by morning.
The road to the site was blocked in several places, making it difficult to bring in people and equipment. The emergency management agency has requested heavy machinery.
On Monday morning, the glamping site announced that it was closing temporarily. It has not said when it will reopen; guests with bookings have been promised that they will be contacted and their trips rescheduled.

Pelaga Eco Park opened in December 2022 on four hectares near Nungnung Waterfall. In 2025 it had 25 guest structures, 11 of them on the riverbank. It has almost 40 thousand followers on Instagram, and its visitors include tourists from Europe and India.
On Monday, Bali's weather service said that the rainy season had not yet begun and that the island was in a transition period. In central Bali the season is expected to start between mid- and late November, and across most of the rest of Bali in December. Meteorologists urged people to prepare for flooding and landslides: although the season will start later and be shorter than usual, downpours could be heavy.
