Recently, a tragic incident involving a female tourist from Brazil occurred, and now, there is a new development on Mount Rinjani. A Malaysian tourist was evacuated after falling during the ascent.

According to police reports, 47-year-old Nazril slipped and fell during the descent to the Segara Anak volcanic lake. He was fortunate to avoid serious injuries: he sustained a bruise on his right arm, scratches on his head, and abdominal pain. Help was given by other tourists and a porter, who escorted him to the nearest medical post in the Sembalun area.
Nazril began the ascent on June 26 with a group of 12 people, starting from the village of Sajang (Bawak Nao entrance, Sembalun district, East Lombok). According to witnesses, the tourist slipped while trying to avoid porters on a narrow mountain path.
Following a series of incidents on Rinjani, the authorities of West Nusa Tenggara announced plans to review the routes and ascent regulations to enhance tourist safety. These measures have been under discussion since June 26, but no specific decisions have been made yet.
It is worth recalling that the new measures are a response to the death of Brazilian Juliana Marins: on June 21, she fell into a ravine during the ascent of Rinjani. Due to challenging weather conditions, her body could only be evacuated on June 25.
