Solo Exhibition by Rama Indirawan
"If you are reading this, you are still alive" is an excerpt from one of Rama Indirawan's pieces in SUTTASOMA, his debut exhibition at Uma Seminyak in Bali, Indonesia. The exhibition launched on Friday, 28th July at 5:00 PM and will run until 13th August.
The title comes from Rama Indirawan's alter ego, Suttasoma.
This persona represents his approach to finding balance and moderating life's extremes through questions, statements, and reflections, allowing him to create freely.
Suttasoma is inspired by the Javanese poem Kakawin Sutasoma from the 14th century, written by Mpu Tantular. This epic tale emphasizes the value of tolerance, encapsulated in the phrase "Bhinekka Tunggal Ika," which became Indonesia's motto, symbolizing unity in diversity.
SUTTASOMA provides a window into the mind of Suttasoma through a variety of artworks, including paintings, collages, mixed media, manual printing, and installations. The exhibition explores themes such as evolving modern habits, cultural barriers, the contrast between past and present, sociopolitical realities, spirituality, and obsessions.
