Harry and Sally meet when the young people travel to New York and argue about whether men and women can be friends. They bump into each other over the next twelve years, dating others and maintaining their own friendships. Harry believes in sex from the start, while Sally wants an emotional connection first and foremost. Their opposing views are tested as they trust each other through romantic ups and downs, leaving them to wonder if their close friendship could ever become something more.
