Last Friday we traveled into space in search of a habitable planet. On Monday, we return to earth, to the deserts of Arizona, to live in a spaceship in a self-contained ecosystem - one of the wildest, strangest, and most ambitious scientific experiments ever undertaken by humanity to understand what it would take to live on another planet.
🎥 In the movie, we explore in depth a $150 million experiment called Biosphere 2. It's a human interpretation and prototype of a man-made ecosystem. In an attempt to see if human existence is possible on other planets, eight "Biospherians" went to live in a vivarium, the largest man-made ecosystem, for 2 years from 1991 to 1993, wearing futuristic red uniforms as if they were traveling in a spaceship! It was like "science fiction without the fiction"!
🔬 What's really amazing is that this massive project was completely funded, developed and led by a small group of dreamers/adventurers/environmental activists.
How did they pull it off!!!🤯
The movie also traces the group's 30-year journey from its founding to the creation of Biosphere, as well as all the wild and exciting projects they pursued in between!
Some people think Biosphere 2 is new age nonsense passed off as science by rich hippies, while others think they are visionaries who carried out the most exciting science project in history.
Join us this Monday night to decide for yourself! And consider what it takes to live on another planet!
✨ After the movie, we'll have a friendly discussion to share our thoughts, learn from each other, and make new friends!
