Announcing the First Edition of Colors of Japan: A Journey into the Art of Japanese Natural Dyes We are thrilled to kick off the first edition of Colors of Japan, featuring the renowned master dyeing artist, Sarasa Yoshioka (@somenotsukasa_yoshioka). This exciting event will immerse you in the world of Japanese natural dyes, through Sarasa’s exquisite and delicate craftsmanship. As part of our “Colors Everywhere” exhibition, co-curated with Japanese art researcher Takahiro Kaneshima (@takahiro_kaneshima), you’ll have the unique opportunity to explore the beauty and complexity of natural dyeing techniques.

Sarasa will be sharing her expertise on Japanese natural dyes and their cultural significance, offering a deeper understanding of this ancient art form. While in Bali, Sarasa will meet with local Balinese artisans, exchanging knowledge about the island’s rich natural dyeing traditions and textiles. In return, she will host a workshop to introduce the natural materials used in Japan for dyeing, as well as the techniques passed down through her family’s long tradition.
