Ashtanga Mysore – Self Practice
Everyday except Saturday at 6.30AM to 8.45AM
Usada has maintained morning Ashtanga Mysore practice throughout the current context, and is now able to open up its space to more students once again (up to 20 people).
Usada is a beautiful shala, large, light and airy, with a superb wooden floor, and mats and cushions for beginners or those just dropping in.
The class is aimed primarily at students who already have a personal Ashtanga practice, and wish to practice in a group setting. It is also a good way to connect with fellow yogis as Dapur café and restaurant below offers a pleasant space where students can enjoy rest, refreshments and conversation after the class.
Practicing at a fixed time in a group environment supports motivation and concentration, and the class energy is focused but serene.
The Ashtanga yoga asana practice and tradition is based on the breath, bandhas (energy locks) and drishti (gaze), and increases strength, stamina and flexibility. Beginners who wish to start their Ashtanga journey should contact Usada in advance for introductory tuition.
