Balinese people make daily offerings of colorful flowers in palm leaf trays to honor the divine and appease the spirits in the underworld. This ritual is based on their firm belief in balancing sacred power and dark energy to maintain peace. In this class, participants will learn about the Balinese philosophy of harmony called Rwa Bhineda and how it formed Balinese responses during times of crisis. Participants will then make Balinese-style offerings using colorful paper flowers that symbolize sacred powers. This class free and suitable for ages 16 and up.
